Transformers Prime Beast Hunters: Predacons Rising

Name: Transformers Prime Beast Hunters: Predacons Rising
Media: Movie
Series: Transformers Prime
Rating: Three Spaceships

Mission Briefing:
Um... a jumble of things? After dubbing Bumblebee a warrior, Optimus goes to grab the Allspark so that Cybertron can breathe new life... and he takes Wheeljack as his pilot. Everyone else has to deal with rebuilding and hunting down Decepticons and a certain Predacon.
But things are going to get more dangerous by the minute! Shockwave and Starscream have succeeded in cloning two more Predacons, and are working on more... but that is not the big danger! Unicron's energy form has been woken up by Primus's reawakening. He brings Megatron back to life, but forces him as his slave and vessel for his Anti-Spark (Megatron, unluckily for him, is conscious and around [again] for this, as well as being bound to Unicron thanks to the Dark Energon that flowed through his body when he was alive the first time). Unicron plans on destroying Primus, and therefore Cybertron!
There are many different factors, and many different players... even Megatron tries to rebel! But will the day, and the planet, as well as the future, be saved?

Mission Report:
This... was not what it could have been.
Now, admittedly, the show lost some points due to content issues. Calling Unicron a god, the whole Primus=core issue, rising of the undead, etc., etc., etc.... yeah, not good mojo! (Plus the content issue in the ending which will be explained later on).
But the story itself had issues. It wasn't well-done. Things were hopping all over the place... I kind of understand if it was to keep the time-stream correct (like this was happening when [hop] this was happening...). But the story... could have been done much better.
It was like those later episodes of the series, and some of the series episodes. We just kept hopping, and there was just too many storylines! They were trying to juggle too many storylines at once. Admittedly, it can be done, but this was not the best way to do it! It could have been done so much better!
Also, the story was glitchy around the leadeship issue. Ever since Prey*, they've pretty much set it up for Smokescreen to be the next Prime! But then the whole leadership thing goes to Bumblebee! Now, admittedly, in the movie you can totally see in-movie how that's going to be, and how good he's going to be, but then here's the issue... The makers of the show have been setting it for Smokescreen for a good, long while now! And where did this leadership ability come from? When Bumblebee spoke similar to R2-D2, there was no indication of leadership skills or anything! It didn't seem to be part of his character! All of the sudden, he starts talking and takes Megatron down out for the count with the Star Saber, and then he all of a sudden grows leadership skills? Um... PEOPLE? NOT HELPFUL? Adimttedly, in real life, skills and abilities do just seem to pop out of nowhere sometimes, but... NOT HELPFUL!
Also, there were a few other story glitches.
While we're talking about the bad, let's also talk about the ending. Warning, spoiler alert... OPTIMUS PRIME DIES! Well, pretty much... thinking back, it's confusing. But that was not good mojo! Optimus dies, and there not even a way for the Matrix to be passed on! No new Primes (unless they keep the title for whatever weird reason)! Optimus Prime is dead! Kaput! ARGH! That I do not like! SERIOUSLY, PEOPLE, WHAT'S UP WITH KILLING PRIME AND RUINING PARTS OF GOOD ENDINGS?!?
There was at least one good part to the ending, however! Megatron ditches his warlording ways (though I thought it was glitchy and didn't make the greatest sense on how he saw reality and why he chose to stop)! Basically, he's a good guy! YAY!
And there were other good parts too. After all, this movie got three Spaceships, not two or one. There were a few funny parts. And there were good story bits as well. Knock Out joined the Autobot team for real! YAY!
Plus, team-up!!! YAY!
And I really liked how Megatron rebelled and tried to fight Unicron. Though I admit, the whole body-"upgrade" thing, Unicron being Megatron's master, and Megatron rebelling was deja vu (sp? on both). I'm talking about the old Transformers: The Animated Movie back from the 1980's**. Unicron rebuilt Megatron as Galvatron there, was Galvatron's master, and Galvatron tried to rebel. Admittedly, there were differences, especially in the two movies' "Unicron-is-Megatron/Galvatron's-master" thing and "Megatron/Galvatron rebelling". But they were still surprisingly similar! I was surprised that Megatron didn't rename himself, or got renamed, Galvatron! A little ticked and upset too, if they were going to be that similar!
It wasn't the only deja vu (sp? on both) thing going on either. But I can't totally recall them to mind.
Yeah, I ended up complaining more than praising this thing, but don't get me wrong... it wasn't total trash. Also, I was watching via Netflix, and my Internet had decided to be grumpy with me... so the watching took a few days, and I had issues in graphics and other stuff. So my opinion in many parts isn't probably what it would usually be.
So, all in all, it was a movie which only won itself an average rating, and seriously could have been done better... as well as possessing a bad and sad part to the ending!

*Transformers Prime, Season 3
**Admittedly, I didn't see the movie, but I did read a graphic novelization of the movie!

Mass Effect

Name: Mass Effect
Media: Video Game (Xbox 360 version)
Rating: Five Spaceships

WARNING: THIS GAME IS RATED M!!!

Mission Report:
Mass Effect is awesome. The gameplay is fun, and the story is excellent.
The story put some major pointers in for me. It's excellent, and the universe is very well-thought-out. Plus, part of the freakin' fun of the game is that your character is your own. Your choices affect the story... literally, they do! And not just in Mass Effect... but choices I made in this game spread out to Mass Effect 2, and even Mass Effect 3!!!
I had a grand ol' time playing this, and it was just one character! It's possible in Mass Effect to make other characters, and have them make different choices! And there are ones which will change the storyline from game to game, if you pick differently! I saw, when playing my one character, which choices would have affected the universe if I had chosen differently!
And you can pick your team! This can affect the storyline, because in a couple of the stories, at least a couple of the storyline ones, their actions and sayings have impact. At the very least, they can add insight and other stuff into your gameplay (I found a character in Mass Effect 2 whose combat talk made me laugh from time to time!). Plus, people have different abilities... like your own character!
And it's not just the big stuff. Some little stuff passes over from game to game too (at least from M.E. 1 to M.E. 2!). I found that cool!
And the combat was fun. Mass Effect is a third-person shooter, but it was fun.
There were some issues, however. Surprisingly, the issue isn't the gore, language, or other things that make this game rated "M". There's two primary issues that I have with this game.
The first is how they just throw you into the universe. There was certain data that I didn't know (specifically, who were the Council?). I made a few choices that I wouldn't normally have for the character I was playing, because I was trying to dig up information! Luckily, I'm much more informed now, and won't be making that mistake twice with the characters I will make from here on out!
The second was that, once you were done with the game, you couldn't go back with your character. I had picked up side-quests while playing the game, and once I was done with the primary storyline, I tried to go back so I could do those side-quests. But the game just threw me back to the final boss fight! ARGH!!!
Otherwise, this game is definitely one of my top fave games!

New Members: Movies & Other Medias

Up to this point, Ellie's Sci-Fi World has been only reviewing TV shows. Now I'll be reviewing some sci-fi movies! And other sci-fi media... primarily, games and books!
Meaning there will be new captions in the blog. And, for some reviews and material, there will be warnings about the reviewed material, especially if they are rated M or R, or even higher.

Anyway, hope you enjoy the reviews, and find them helpful!

Oh, warning! Some of the materials I will be reviewing won't be right after I had seen/played/read them. So the review might not be the freshest. Also, I will not be doing summaries for all of them, and some of them are for the reason of "I haven't seen/played/read them in a while or a long time." Fair warning!

Deadlock

Episode Name: Deadlock
Series: Transformers Prime, Season 3
Rating: Four and a Half Spaceships

Mission Briefing:
It's the final battle! The Autobots fight to take the warship, save Earth's people, and get the Omega Lock to revive their own planet! And the Decepticons fight to cyber-form Earth and against the Autobots.
It's the final battle, and who knows what will happen...?

Mission Report:
IT'S OVER!
Well, for now. Predaking's still technically out there.
This episode was amazing! Megatron's finally dead... killed by Bumblebee, of all bots! And Bumblebee talked!!! AND Cybertron came back! WOO-HOO...!
The ending was a bit of a killer. It was sad. It's nice that Ratchet decided to stay, but everyone else... I felt like tearing up myself!
But the amount of "amazing" and amazing elements was still very high! I really hope that they do continue the series, or at least the storyline, but compared to the other two Season endings... this was the best one in this series yet.
All in all, this didn't hit 5-Spaceships... but it was still a very enjoyable, amazing, and good episode!

Synthesis

Episode Name: Synthesis
Series: Transformers Prime, Season 3
Rating: Four Spaceships

Mission Briefing:
The Autobots initiate their plan to find the Decepticon warship and rescue Ratchet. Ratchet works on the Syth-En formula.
Things will go chaotic...

Mission Report:
I know the summary was pretty lame.
But the episode itself was much better.
It was much more enjoyable, and the story was good. An obvious tactic was used. It was nice that it wasn't skipped.
And it's a "to-be-continued" without the words... except that they're promising the last battle.
I'm pumped and ready for the next episode!
As for this episode... it was a pretty good one!

Persuasion

Episode Name: Persuasion
Series: Transformers Prime, Season 3
Rating: Three Spaceships

Mission Briefing:
Ratchet has been captured! After failing to save the human device, the Autobots head back to Base to discover their doctor gone. They are trying to figure out what to do.
Meanwhile, Megatron is trying to get the data--or help--he needs from Ratchet. When the cordical physic patch doesn't work, Megatron begins to work his "voodoo"* on Ratchet.
Things are going to be troublesome before they get better...

Mission Report:
Again, not the best episode, but not total trash either.
There were good parts to this episode. One of my faves is when Raf starts acting like Ratchet... that was funny!
And it was interesting to watch how Megatron did his negotiations with, and persuaded, Ratchet to help. There was honesty, yet attacking certain points. Megatron was very clever in his plan. It was very interesting.
And I think they did a good job with the catch-up part of the episode. I had forgotten about Megatron plotting to grab Ratchet, until they couped the scene and his line with the one where Soundwave is approaching Ratchet with crackling wire-things...
But there were lulls and not-so great parts. Some parts of the show were boring.
But this wasn't a total-trash episode. But it wasn't a shining best either.
All in all, this was only an average episode.

*To quote Arcee about Megatron's "make-people-join/stay" tactics in Orion Pax Part 1**

Minus One

Episode Name: Minus One
Series: Transformers Prime, Season 3
Rating: Four Spaceships

Mission Briefing:
Megatron makes a new plan to use the newly-discovered cyber matter to rebuild Cybertron and cyber-form Earth. So he begins plans to rebuild the Omega Lock. Stealing human tech is part of the needed plan... so the stealing begins!
On one of the runs, Soundwave is captured. But he's not very helpful, and trouble is going to brew...

Mission Report:
This was undoubtedly a multi-parter, even though the words "To Be Continued" are never used. The episode ends on a cliffhanger!
It was mostly enjoyable, though it had it's average, boring, and not-so-good parts. And there were things I didn't like, and story glitches. And the part where Megatron lost his temper against Predaking... um, yeah, thought that was going to go bad, and was surprised it didn't (by bad, I mean Megatron get slaughtered by an angry Predaking).
However, there were good parts.
There were some shocking parts. For one, Shockwave lost his temper! REALLY, HE DID!!!
Another...
SOUNDWAVE ACTUALLY TALKED!!!
HE DID!!!
The talking part was good.
This was a pretty good episode.

Evolution

Episode Name: Evolution
Series: Transformers Prime, Season 3
Rating: Four Spaceships

Mission Briefing:
The Predacon reveals a deadly secret... he can transform and is actually very intelligent! He wishes to lead his Predacon brethren, when they are ready, for Megatron.
But Megatron is frightened and wary. He knows that when Predaking discovers that his kind is stronger than the Decepticons (especially after the Insecticon Hive and half of Megatron's Vehicon troops have been destroyed during the vampire episode) there's a good chance that Predaking will rebel and take out the Decepticons. So a decision is made to destroy Project Predacon, surprisingly even reinforced by Shockwave.
But the Decepticons can't risk having Predaking knowing it was them setting up the Predacons for destruction. So they set it up so it looks like the Autobots have destroyed them all.
Ultra Magnus is already having trouble at base, and is not especially welcomed among them. But the Autobots are going to have more trouble when they fall into the Decepticons' set-up...

Mission Report:
Not bad! Good thing I saw this after seeing part of Thirst*. They explained some of what we needed to know--that the Insecticon Hive and half of Megatron's troops are gone--which was a good thing. But I did have a couple of questions...
Anyway, the central episode was pretty good. There were good scenes. It wasn't my fave episode, but it was much better than my first Zero-Spaceship episode**.
All in all, much better than Thirst, and a good episode, but not the best.

*Transformers Prime, Season 3
**Thirst

Thirst

Episode Name: Thirst
Series: Transformers Prime, Season 3
Rating: Zero Spaceships

Mission Briefing:
It is discovered that Silas is still alive, and Knock Out has been using him as a test subject for his synthetic Energon experiments. With interference from Starscream, suggesting the use of a little Dark Energon, Silas turns into a Cybertronian version of a vampire!!!
No more review... I couldn't finish the episode.

Mission Report:
This episode went new levels of scary for this series. It was dark and freaky already, with Silas being a test rat. I was a little ticked that he was back... he was dead, and I was enjoying the series without his interference!
But this episode was too scary. The whole "cyber-vampire" thing was scary. And the resulting vampires were scary.
And the special effects were bad news again, though they were good. I couldn't look whenever Vamp-Silas opened his "mouth", and there were not-so comfortable scenes.
It was too much for me, and I couldn't finish the episode.
So, DO NOT WATCH THIS EPISODE! TOO DARK AND SCARY!!!

Plus One

Episode Name: Plus One
Series: Transformers Prime, Season 3
Rating: Three and a Half Spaceships

Mission Briefing:
Wheeljack actually returns to Base, and is soon heading out with Arcee to find a Preda-bone (Predacon bone). There's some serious discussion on the way.
Meanwhile, Raf discovers a Preda-bone in a museum. Agent Fowler, who's seriously crushing on June Darby, takes said woman out to get it. Problem? Knock Out comes along... and not only takes the Preda-bone, but captures the two humans!
Thanks to Starscream upsetting Predaking, and said Predacon reacting, the Decepticon communication satatellite (sp?) dish is damaged, and Decepticon communications are down.
Things end up being an interesting adventure, but also dangerous to June and Agent Fowler...

Mission Report:
Okay, the end jumbled things for me. There were too many glitches together. Like Knock Out's revelation communication... the Autobots were there too fast, and that scene just seemed wrong.
Then Miko saying a lot of "Jacks" in a way that was too confusing...
Before those two, the "hide and seek/hide and shriek" wandering around the train cars scene took too long and was boring.
And the fact that the pepper spray worked... I would have preferred to know how it worked. Did it really sting Knock Out's eyes, or did it just block the vision? Or both? And how did it clear up and/or get better? That was just a confusing scene.
Well, the end was glitchy and not the greatest for enjoyment. And I didn't totally understand the "romance" scene... yeesh!
However, most of the rest of the show was pretty good... more four-Spaceship material. There were good jokes and funny scenes. However, the Wheeljack and Arcee scenes weren't so great, however.
So, all in all, this wasn't the greatest episode. It did have good scenes, admittedly, but it wasn't one of the best episodes in this series.

Chain of Command

Episode Name: Chain of Command
Series: Transformers Prime, Season 3
Rating: Four Spaceships

Mission Briefing:
The Predacon is back! After somehow surviving being frozen, Predaking (what I'll be calling him in this blog so I don't have to say "the Predacon" or "the dragon" every time), comes back home to the Nemesis. He is placed under Starscream's command... much to Starscream's joy ( :) ).
Meanwhile (this is the other half of what started in Project Predacon*), Ultra Magnus, Bulkhead, and Wheeljack head off to check out a Decepticon dig site. Miko secretly tags along (though it gets revealed after a fight). There's tension between Wheeljack and Ultra Magnus, both being Wrecker leaders, having very different ways, and just being plain ol' different from each other. And poor Bulkhead is not in the greatest position.
When Megatron sends Starscream and Predaking to check out the dig site the Ultra Magnus Wreckers are at (since said dig site hadn't reported in), the Wrecker team and Ultra Magnus is going to have some serious trouble...

Mission Report:
WOW!
There were some super-awesome scenes in this episode. The relationship between Starscream and Predaking had me laughing out loud (especially when Predaking is swing Starscream in the A-Pex armor like a chew toy!!! LOL!!!).
And it was extremely awesome watching Miko pound some Decepticon butt! I mean, that was awesome and a half! Miko was acting pretty coolly beforehand, admittedly, but when she was wearing the A-Pex armor herself and kicking Decepticon butt... WOW!!! That was fun, a little of funny, and awesome!!!
It was very nice to find out that Wheeljack was serious in considering Miko a Wrecker. I wasn't so sure last time, but it seems rock-hard and serious after this episode! I like that!
The ending was a bit of a downer, too. And not all of the episode was super-enjoyable. However, it was fun to watch, and those scenes were pure awesomeness! Plus, there were good jokes sprinkled throughout.
And I didn't totally care for the backstory. It's nice learning Transformers Prime lore, but the story of the Wreckers and the leadership issues... not so fun. And it just felt wrong.
Admittedly, I wasn't hating Ultra Magnus that bad in this episode, but I go with Wheeljack in the not-liking-him department.
All in all, this wasn't one of the best episodes. But the episode wasn't all bad, and it had some of the most awesome scenes in, dare I say, the whole series!!! At least, up to this point! I'll probably re-watch it just for those!

Project Predacon

Episode Name: Project Predacon
Series: Transformers Prime, Season 3
Rating: Three Spaceships

Mission Briefing:
Everyone's settling in, getting adjusted, and so forth in their new home and position. Smokescreen is also handling his almost-was-a-Prime problems, issues, and thoughts. By himself, since he (and most likely Optimus Prime) who knows about that almost-becoming-Prime situation.
Optimus finds a bunch of Decepticons digging up Predacon remains... on Earth.
We find out that Megatron has had Shockwave do some Pred' cloning long ago. This army secured Earth for the Decepticons, and then were lost thanks to time. The Autobots figure out that these Predacons have become basis for Earth mythology and Midevial(sp?)-time tales.
And it's not much to figure out that the Decepticons are starting to do cloning plans again! The Decepticons are gathering remains so that Shockwave can get the CNA (basically, it's like DNA for Cybertronians) to clone a new army of Predacons! And he pretty much needs a single strand of said CNA!
Agent Fowler reports two sightings of Decepticon activity. The team splits up (again :) ). This episode follows Optimus, Bumblebee, and Smokescreen as they attempt to stop the Decepticons from getting Predacon CNA...

Mission Report:
THIS is more like it! The theme song's different, and the emphasis on beast and beast hunters is finally coming out more!
Plus, Bulkhead said beast wars! Classic reference!
This episode wasn't the best. The story was okay, and it was sometimes more enjoyable at times than others. There were cool scenes, admittedly, like the one where Soundwave Groundbridges the Predacon tooth into the Nemesis*, and it lands in Megatron's open, and waiting, hand! Admittedly, there were story glitches there, but it was still cool to see!
And all the stuff around Optimus... seeing his new combat powers, him actually scanning a vehicle, seeing his new vehicle mode shoot missiles... just a bunch of cool stuff around him and the new-and-improved him!
And the background storyline and world-building is well done, at least in this case. It shows how the Cybertronian storyline affected Earth, and it did so logically. The scenario they had set up was well-done. I thought that was cool, well-done, and good work on their part. Well done, guys!
So, this episode had its up, and really up and cool, moments, but... it wasn't the best episode. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. It was pretty much average.

*The Decepticon warship

Rebellion

Episode Name: Rebellion
Series: Transformers Prime, Season 3
Rating: Four and a Half Spaceships

Mission Briefing:
The Autobots attack Darkmount! With the troops scattered with a clever plan, and Agent Fowler and troops waiting for the strike moment, the Autobots aim to take out the fusion cannons on Darkmount... and then take down the fortress itself! And Smokescreen's facing problems with his whole "possibly the next Prime" issues down below the ground while Optimus dies...
One way or the other, the Darkmount Saga is going to end...

Mission Report:
For the time, I'm calling this dark storyline the Darkmount Saga*. And, yes, it's finally over!
This was a highly enjoyable storyline. Admittedly, I'm giddy over the ending, so I might be seeing this as better than I usually would. And I'm going to have to get used to Optimus Prime's new look, but I'm glad OP (Optimus Prime) is still here and kicking (and his face still looks similar enough, which makes me happy!).
Shockwave is going to be a fun character in some ways. We actually saw him ticked! I mean, when his dragon went bye-bye, he went down and kicked some tooty! It was fun seeing an usually emotionless, or next to emotionless bot, ticked off! And then the extreme calm he had when he was escaping the falling debris of Darkmount... HAH!
Oh, and close proximity near the Predacon is affecting Megatron! He basically roared and acted like an animal near Starscream! LOL!
Ultra Magnus, on the other hand... um... Admittedly, I'm being tough on the guy. I don't like too much of his attitude. I will give him this much, however... he can fight! He seems to have his good points. But let's just see how much he can win me over... if he can at all.
Oh, and there's some special effects issues. The whole Alpha Trion scenes... lame!!! Transformers Prime has proven that they can do so much better with special effects. Take The Human Factor**, for example. The too-good special effects were a downer point in their case, but it was still good special effects. And there were better special effects even within the episode... even Darkmount falling was better than what they did for the Alpha Trion series! All Alpha Trion was was a drawing (with some glowing, admittedly), and talking!
Some of you might complain, "But they did this before! Take Alpha/Omega**, for example!" Well, in that episode he was only a message. It makes more sense that Optimus might be talking to a still image. Admittedly, it could have been done better then, but the context was better for that lack of special effects.
Oh, and when are they going to get series with the Beast Hunters theme here? I get finishing the last storyline--and I am super-happy that they did that--but I don't like the Beast Hunters thing popping up in the theme song so often if it's not a huge deal.
But you want the review, don't you?
All in all, very awesome episode, and I'm super glad that the Darkmount Saga is over!!!

*I'm not sure which exact episodes conform into the "Darkmount Saga", but it's at least the first four episodes of this Season! Let's just say it starts mid-or-around Darkest Hour*** and ends here.
**Both episodes from Transformers Prime, Season 2

Prey

Episode Name: Prey
Series: Transformers Prime*, Season 3
Rating: Four and a Half Spaceships

Mission Briefing:
The Decepticons release their new addition--a Predacon cloned from fossils--to hunt down Wheeljack. Meanwhile, Ultra Magnus has joined up, and begins helping to find the others. The Harvenger team--Ratchet, Bumblebee, and Raf--are working on stuff within the ship. And Smokescreen is going after the Forge of Solus Prime, hoping it will heal Optimus Prime.
Will everything end up okay?

Mission Report:
Ah... they're back to their ol', good streak! This episode was highly enjoyable.
But I don't like Ultra Magnus too much. Too by-the-book! I really don't like that they're making him leader. Admittedly, there was a time or two that I liked him, but... I don't like him. Let's hope he can change my mind, or someone might be joining his Transformers Animated partner and Sentinel in my favorite-character ratings.
And Optimus's revealation at the end was extremely surprising...
I liked the dragon, however. I know his name is Predaking from the toys, but they haven't revealed it yet. The dragon's involvement made this episode really enjoyable and pretty cool.
And I liked the scene where Shockwave was rubbing the dragon at the end.
Anyway, really good episode all in all.

*I know they've added "Beast Hunters" to the name in this Season, but I'm just going to keep putting just the primary name of the series for the series's name in the place where the series's name goes.

Scattered

Episode Name: Scattered
Series: Transformers Prime, Season 3
Rating: Four Spaceships

Mission Briefing:
Shockwave is back, and quickly becomes First Leutentiant (sp?) of the scientific affairs. Of course, Starscream's upset about this, and starts off a "rivalry". Everyone's doing what they can to survive, and Wheeljack escapes. He joins up with Miko and Bulkhead.
Yeah, another lame summary, I know.

Mission Report:
This was much better. It was more enjoyable. The story was better done, though it had its fair share of glitches and problems. One noticeable one is that Shockwave was able to repair his eye. Too many questions and confusion around that subject.
And there's more happiness and hope in this episode. And we once again see the Harvenger in action. This is going to be fun...!
And the bot that I thought was coming in the last episode has finally shown up! I'm talking about Ultra Magnus! I knew he was coming, but didn't know when. Well, he shows up in this one!
And there's been a bit of a gripe that's finally getting resolved. The whole third Season has been calling itself "Transformers Prime: Beast Hunters". But there was no indication of why in the last episode. Now, at the very end, we are finally seeing why. We don't get a super-great look at the reason, but it's starting to finally start.
Oh, and we get to see Megatron's face in emotions we don't usually see in the last scene! Fun!
And it looks like Wheeljack still considers Miko a Wrecker! I'm not sure if it's official or unofficial (last one meaning he's saying to have fun and make her happy), but it's still cool all the same!
This episode is much better than the first one! ALL RIGHT!!!

Darkmount, NV

Episode Name: Darkmount, NV
Series: Transformers Prime, Season 3
Rating: Two Spaceships

Mission Briefing:
...
Okay, basically aftermath of the last episode. The fortress is now named Darkmount, and Megatron is getting ready to strike at Earth (and trying to feed lies into Agent Fowler's ears). Smokescreen has managed to rescue Optimus, but the Autobot leader is badly wounded. Wheeljack is captured. Bulkhead is using a Wrecker plan to get together back with Wheeljack. Miko is with Bulkhead. Bumblebee, Raf, Arcee, and Jack are trying to head to Jasper. Smokescreen is staying with Optimus, who seems to have lost hope while being severely damaged. Decepticons do stuff. Agent Fowler and June are trying to deal with the situation, including taking care of the refugees from Jasper (who, of course, don't know the truth of the situation). The military is trying to do something, but Darkmount has big, freaking, fusion cannons! And I mean cannons!!! Agent Fowler is trying to keep the military from doing their attack plan, and he's trying to deal with Megatron's lies. Blah-de-blah-blah-blah...

Mission Report:
Yes, I know that was my worst review ever. That's part of the reason why this episode hit so low.
The story was terrible. And, once again, it's an unofficial multi-parter. They don't even use "To Be Continued" anymore!!! ARG!!! And the sudden reappearance of the Phase Shifter... um, not believable enough! Story glitch!!!
And this episode was dark. And there were disturbing parts. And parts that I just didn't like! (These revenues do cross over, especially with the last one).
Oh, and there's more human deaths!!! Again, we don't "see" them die... they're in tanks and vehicles. But you know what happens, and that's not good!
Oh, and there was confusion! Admittedly, I haven't watched or rewatched the last two episodes in Season 2 for a while, so that might be part of it. But there were confusing parts to this episode.
And I'm ticked about the name change!!! The fortress's name was New Kaon! That I remembered clearly enough, and I even checked my last review, and that was the fortress's name! SERIOUSLY!!! They just had to mess up the in-series story! I hate it when that happens! It's just annoying, and makes me ticked!
Admittedly, there was some good parts (reason why this episode didn't get an one or lower). There were at least two good jokes. And the action scene between Jack, Arcee, and the 'Cons was enjoyable.
At the end, there was another story glitch. Guess who's back? Here's a hint... a very good representative of his 1980's self that showed up first in Out Of The Past (Transformers Prime, Season 2).
That's right! Shockwave!
And his appearance shocked me!
*Giggle*... okay, couldn't resist that once I realized the joke, but it's actually very true. It did shock me. I was super surprised when he showed up. Admittedly, I was expecting a certain someone else I knew would show up, so that probably had a lot to do with it.
But, all in all, it looks like Cliffjumper got his hope... Shock's back.
Back to the actual reviewing. This episode was dark, and had story glitches. There were good parts, but... not a good way to start a Season.

Darkest Hour

Episode Name: Darkest Hour
Series: Transformers Prime, Season 2
Rating: Two Spaceships

Mission Briefing:
Megatron takes control of the Omega Lock, and uses it to start cybernizing (sp?) Earth (think: the purpose of the Key to Vector Sigma on Earth in The Key To Vector Sigma Parts 1-2*). Optimus destroys the Omega Lock to make sure that Earth stays safe and humanity stays alive, but makes sure Cybertron is never revived.
But Megatron has started his purpose... he has a new fortress named New Kaon, somewhere around (or in, not sure) Jasper, Nevada! You know what that means... the Base has been located!
It is a dark hour indeed... will it get bright?

Mission Report:
The answer: not right away!!! In fact, it gets a whole lot darker first... and this is a series cliffhanger!!! That means we don't know until the next Season comes out! I hate Season cliffhangers!!! Okay, so Optimus lost his memory and became Orion Pax again, but at least they showed last Season that the Unicron story was over and the Autobots had won!
Now, let's be honest. We know everything will eventually turn out okay and the Autobots eventually win and blah-de-blah-blah-blah... that's how every story ends eventually. But it is not a real comfort here! They should have put at least a partial happy ending here, like they did in the last Season!
The ending was the true killer. Up until that point, the story was pretty well-done. Though the enjoyment level (except during the action parts around the Base), was definitely not the best.
The ending did a lot of no-nos! For one, the totally dark ending... and they killed Prime and Wheeljack (at least no one goes 'Con this time, but I still didn't like it!!!)! And just the dark tone!
So, all in all, this is probably my least favorite episode in the series (next to The Human Factor). Worst way ever to end a series!!!

Regeneration

Episode Name: Regeneration
Series: Transformers Prime, Season 2
Rating: Four Spaceships

Mission Briefing:
Dreadwing does something extremely unexpected. He hands over the Forge of Solis to the Autobots! Then he proceeds to try and kill Starscream, and is eliminated by Megatron (Starscream lives).
But the Forge gives the Autobots the edge. Now they have a way to up their Ground-Bridge into a Spacebridge (sp?) and get to Cybertron to find the Omega Lock, which is what the Keys open/activate to revive Cybertron! However, mistrust is starting to run high in the Autobots' side, as people keep secrets from each other. Everyone heads to Cybertron for the final battle...
How will it end?

Mission Report:
They don't even bother with the "to be continued" part anymore! This is definitely a multiparter! The inside story of this one was pretty good, though it did have uncomfy parts and glitches. But the action was good, and the obvious use of the Forge was used, and the story was pretty well-done overall.
As a solo episode, it was a pretty good one, just needs some tweaking.

Patch

Episode Name: Patch
Series: Transformers Prime, Season 2
Rating: Three Spaceships

Mission Briefing:
Megatron has decided to figure out Starscream's real purpose in giving up the Omega Keys. So what does he do? Why... take the cordial psychic patch and jump in (right after freeing Knock Out from the wall)!
So begins a chaos of memories, and some jokes along the way... but with Starscream's fate on the line!

Mission Briefing:
Hmm... not great, and not bad either. The story was decent. We basically get a big review of Starscream's acts. The flashbacks were pretty well-done, however, and were kept nicely with the current subject that was being discussed at the moment. However, there are some glitches and problems (like, how come we saw the part in Students and Masters [Season 1 episode] where Starscream was gone like he was actually there, instead of getting a screen-view or something? What's that about? Story glitch!). And the scenes were chaotic... and was never explained why they would suddenly show up, and how the "patchers" (sp?) saw them. And there were some scenes that could have gone into certain areas quite nicely, though they were mysteriously left out.
However, it made up some of it with jokes and funny scenes. Those made it pretty enjoyable, though I would have liked some more. A lot of this episode felt like a time-waster, though an interesting and sometimes funny one.
So, all in all, this was only an average episode.

Inside Job

Episode Name: Inside Job
Series: Transformers Prime, Season 2
Rating: Four Spaceships

Mission Briefing:
Smokescreen has been captured by the Decepticons! Turns out he is the "pod" holding the last Omega Key... which Megatron gets! And said Decepticon leader uses the old cordial psychic patch to figure out the purpose and identity of the Omega Keys! Smokescreen manages to escape and cause some primo mischief, but Starscream is still in the game, and the Omega Key storyline just won't stop there...
Will the day end up okay?

Mission Report:
This episode was better done than the last one. This time, they only put two stories into one, instead of multiple. And it rolled off of the last episode much better. The beginning was a little freaky, and lost a few points. However, the rest of the episode was pretty enjoyable and pretty well-done. The story was well-done, though it could have been done a little better.
This was a pretty good show, though it needs a little tweaking.

Hard Knocks

Episode Name: Hard Knocks
Series: Transformers Prime, Season 2
Rating: Three Spaceships

Mission Briefing:
Smokescreen's got a big ego, and everyone is getting a little tired of it. But the race for the Omega Keys goes on... even Starscream gets into the action!
Things are going to go crazy...

Mission Report:
Sorry for the lame Briefing, but the story in this one was crazy. It was definitely an unofficial multiparter. The episode was basically a bunch of stories chucked together... not done in a too-bad way, but it can be confusing finding the primary story.
However, the enjoyment level of watching the episode made things better. The action was good. And there were good story parts... I just think too many stories were chucked together, and too many things were happening at once.
All in all, this was just an average episode, though it had a good enjoyment level.

Alpha/Omega

Episode Name: Alpha/Omega
Series: Transformers Prime, Season 2
Rating: Four Spaceships

Mission Briefing:
Optimus Prime receives a message implanted in the Star Saber by Alpha Trion. It reveals a bunch of stuff, including that the bot also sent over the Omega Keys... which are the key (no pun intended) to reviving Cybertron!!! This causes some mixed feelings, since the Autobots are attached to Earth. But Optimus has to decode the coordinates to these Keys... luckily, there are only 4 left, most likely one per Omega Key.
Meanwhile, Megatron is trying to figure out how to tip the balance in power. He decides to take a disturbing method to gain the power of the Forge of Solis (sp?) Prime... and create a sword of equal power to the Star Saber out of Dark Energon! He calls it the Dark Star Saber... and it's going to cause some mighty trouble at Egypt, which is the location of the first Omega Key, and also where Smokescreen and Arcee are...
Will the day be saved?

Mission Report:
They've really been doing great this Season! This is another good episode... and this time, the good special effects really help! The sword-fight between the two leaders was awesome with all the flame-effects and so on (they must have fun with that, because there's a lot! It's super-cool, though!).
The story was pretty good too. It lost points for Megatron's twisted plan, and what he said about "being gods"... that was disturbing! Hey, I'm a Christian! I believe in the one true God, and that there are no other gods! However, I really liked Optimus Prime's comeback line to what Megatron said, though! Nice evening score, though it didn't help regain all the points lost by Megatron's line.
However, the rest of the story was good and enjoyable. It was cool seeing another classic face... Alpha Trion! And, while he's not as similar to his 1980's counterpart as Shockwave was, he was still pretty similar (nice going, guys!). And everything else was pretty enjoyable and well-done, though it did have some glitches (like, how did the heck did they get that arm to work?!? Did Megatron go and stick Dark Energon in it, or was it the D-gon* already in his system? Was it because they're robots? Never explained!]).
So, all in all, this was a pretty good episode, just lost some points because of disturbing memos and a few glitches.

*My nickname for Dark Energon.

Legacy

Episode Name: Legacy
Series: Transformers Prime, Season 2
Rating: Four and a Half Spaceships

Mission Briefing:
Smokescreen blows the Autobots' cover. Luckily, it can be an easy patch-up. But Smokescreen needs to learn a few things... and Jack gets picked as the teacher! The duo soon start getting into mischief.
But Megatron's up to worse mischief! He decodes another set of Iacon coordinates. He sends the Autobots on a wild goose chase with a decoy. He uncovers the Relic... which is the Star Saber, a sword with the power of the Matrix (think: EXTREMELY POWERFUL!!!). It can be only activated by a Prime, and it's picky as Excaliber (sp?)... it's not letting anyone pull it out of the mountain it's stuck in, even making a force-field to keep it from getting blasted out!
By the time Ratchet picks up the Star Saber's Iacon signal, he can't contact the other Autobots! Only Smokescreen is able to go, and he convinces Jack to come along. Things are going to get real dangerous, real fast!
Will everyone make it out alive?!?

Mission Report:
OH WOW!
First a terrible episode, then a good one! Good memo!
I liked this episode... it was a bit King-Arthur like! But the story needs some work... there were some glitches.
But it was otherwise very good. It was highly enjoyable... I mean, for the first time ever, we see Megatron truly afraid!!! Aw man... that was awesome (though admittedly a little weird)! And Optimus cutting the "mountain" (HUGE rock) in half with that sword... wow! This was just one fun episode, especially near the end!
So, all in all, this was one cool and fun episode!

The Human Factor

Episode Name: The Human Factor
Series: Transformers Prime, Season 2
Rating: One Spaceship

Mission Briefing:
MECH has accomplished its newest, twisted goal... they have combined the bodies of Silas and Breakdown to revive their leader! Silas, in return, eliminates them... and goes and gets a super-weapon... for handing over to Megatron! Why? He wants to join the Decepticons!
Meanwhile, Bulkhead is still recovering, and still cranky and wanting to get out. Then the Decepticons, with the help of Silas, goes to get the code needed to activate the super-weapon. Things are going to get hectic... and the Autobots are down more than just one, because Raf's grounded!!!
Will the day be saved?

Mission Report:
There are times when special effects are too good! This episode was one of them. They lost the episode some a lot of points this time around, though they are usually a good thing (especially for this show).
The story, however, was pretty well-done. Not the best, but not exactly the worse either.
Now to enjoyment. It was pretty enjoyable for most of it (except for the murders at beginning, though we never saw anything, and complaint said above).
But the ending was the true killer! Okay, I'm glad we don't have to worry about MECH and Silas ever again, but killing the poor guy was over the top. Admittedly, it was cool seeing Knock Out miss his assistant (Breakdown) and actually feeling for him, but... yeah, it was over the top and not fun.
This is my least-fave episode of the Season, and maybe of the whole series!

New Recruit

Episode Name: New Recruit
Series: Transformers Prime, Season 2
Rating: Three and a Half Spaceships

Mission Briefing:
The Autobots find a picture of an escape pod on the Internet. They soon discover it's a Decepticon pod... carrying the wrong cargo!!! They meet the Autobot Smokescreen, a super-new Autobot when we're talking about experience... with training under the Elite Guard, and once-guardian of Alpha Trion, head archivist of Iacon and friend of Optimus Prime. He is accepted, but he's so new, he needs training! And his coming affects the still-recovering Bulkhead, making the big dude upset.
But a different discovery has been found via the World Wide Web... a bunch of Red Energon! This super-rare Energon does an energy boost, but it also gives the owner super-speed! The Autobots go after it... but Starscream has found the Red Energon via the Internet as well!!!
Smokescreen may soon end up being on the field faster than anyone wants...

Mission Report:
Hmm... this is an episode that needs work. Now, there were enjoyable parts (Starscream enjoyed an image that Raf used to replace a Bumblebee sighting!). And there was a little more lore, and we learn that this Cybertron did indeed have an Autobot Elite Guard (the symbol for them pretty much matches the one in Transformers Animated). And it's cool that we have a new Autobot... a young one at that!
However, the highest enjoyment level was only 4-Spaceships. It was a mostly average show. The story needs work. There were glitches. And it wasn't really the best for enjoyment. Now, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. But there were enjoyable and good parts... it was just mostly average.
So, this episode was a mostly-average show, though it did have some more enjoyable and better parts!

Out Of The Past

Episode Name: Out Of The Past
Series: Transformers Prime, Season 2
Rating: Four and Three-Fourth Spaceships

Mission Briefing:
Bulkhead's recovering from his Tex-En experience and injures, and Miko is basically Miss "Drill Sergeant" (Arcee even says she's acting like a drill sergeant in a way). Meanwhile, Arcee's mind is in the past.
Arcee meets up with Miko at a familiar grave-site... Cliffjumper's grave-site. In trying to help, Arcee tells the story of how she was captured by the Decepticons and how Cliffjumper became her partner... and how they got to Earth, though hindered by Starscream and the creator of the cordial physic patch, Shockwave.
It's going to be one interesting story...

Mission Report:
DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE BEGINNING!!!
That's what I have to say. The beginning had me all confused. I wasn't sure what the heck was going on. Was Starscream back as Second-In-Command somehow? And how did Arcee get captured? And how was Cliffjumper alive?!? Luckily, we learn pretty soon after the theme song that it's a flashback, but it had me too confused for enjoyment... that was a primary thing in keeping me from giving this episode a 5-Spaceship rating. So, my advice, stick to the episode even when the beginning has you totally confused.
Otherwise, it was a well-done story. Unluckily, I had read the story Arcee's flashback covered in a graphic novel, and they had changed it around. It made things less enjoyable, and a little more confusing. HOWEVER, the story they told here was still good and enjoyable. It was a good re-writing of the story, and did well with the episode.
The overall storyline was good and enjoyable. There were some minor glitches (like the classic "There's someone behind me, isn't there" [may have gotten exact quote wrong] scene didn't make greatest sense... I thought that the Vehicons had bought it, not that Shockwave was behind him!). And there were uncomfortable moments (the cordial physic patch scene, for example, which also had a glitch... they weren't exactly clear if they used the same technique for seeing the code as Bumblebee & Ratchet did in Sick Mind*; if not, how were they able to see the code Shockwave got?!?). But it was primarily a very good and enjoyable storyline.
And we get to see a classic character: Shockwave!!! I tip my hat off to the animators on this one... this Shockwave looks a ton like his 1980's counterpart!!! Now, it was still a Transformers Prime version, but the similarity was shocking! It was an extremely well-done job!
So, all in all, despite the very confusing beginning... this was a wonderful episode! One of the best in the series! Way to go, guys!

Hurt

Episode Name: Hurt
Series: Transformers Prime, Season 2
Rating: Four Spaceships

Mission Briefing:
Miko comes to find Bulkhead in terrible condition. Her heart is broken, to put it simply. Wheeljack soon hears of it, and he's ticked. He goes off solo... and soon discovers Miko stowed aboard his ship The Jackhammer! She wants revenge against the Insecticon who did this too. And she's the only one who can tell him who done it, since Optimus withheld the information from Wheeljack. So the duo team up...
But will they be the ones who will be taken out, instead of Hardshell?

Mission Report:
Wow! Again, a very well-done story. There were only a few glitches. For example, how did Miko get aboard The Jackhammer? And how did the Insecticons know who did their leader in?
Otherwise, this was a very well-done story. It was a mostly-enjoyable show, though it had its downer moments and not-so-comfy moments. But it was mostly enjoyable.
Anyway, all in all, this was a very good episode.

Toxicity

Episode Name: Toxicity
Series: Transformers Prime, Season 2
Rating: Three and a Half Spaceships

Mission Briefing:
We follow Bulkhead during the last quarter of the Relic Search. Megatron has sent a super-dangerous Insecticon named Hardshell with an Insecticon troupe after the same Relic. This Insecticon has had dealings with Wreckers before, and let's just say that not all the Wreckers made it. And now Bulkhead is on his list!
But that's nothing compared to the Relic. It's a highly-toxic Energon called Tox-En (sp?). It causes severe illness, paralysis, and eventually the death of a Cybertronian exposed for too long! But the Decepticons know a way to make a super-weapon that can wipe out a lot of bots with this Tox-En. Bulkhead has to get rid of it (luckily, there's a volcano nearby!).
But will the Tox-En, or even Hardshell, get rid of him first?

Mission Report:
The story was very well-done. Barely any glitches (though a few, especially near the end), and we could see where the other episodes cross in. And there was a good use of flashbacks in this episode. And I liked seeing how Bulkhead now considers Miko "family", and seeing how strong the bond is on his side.
However, it wasn't the most enjoyable episode. There were good parts, and fun parts, admittedly. But there were parts that weren't as enjoyable or comfortable. They weren't exactly the most comfortable moments to sit through, though it never got too terrible... just uncomfy (sp?)!
So this was a very well-written story, just needs tweaking when it comes for the enjoyment level in some parts.

Note:
Here's a helpful hint... Hardshell has a much of yellow scratch-lines on him, which seperates him from the other Insecticons.

Triage

Episode Name: Triage
Series: Transformers Prime, Season 2
Rating: Four Spaceships

Mission Briefing:
This time, we follow Wheeljack and Ratchet as they go after their Iacon Relic. But their opponent is a silent and deadly one... Soundwave! And considering the Autobot duo do a lot of bickering, well...
Today may be hectic on this quarter of the Iacon Relic Search as well...

Mission Report:
This was a very good episode. The bickering between the Autobots made things amusing at times. The plan that Ratchet made and Raf helped with was cool, clever, and managed to work! Something's a little off about the Decepticons not checking for a virus, but it admittedly makes story-sense (hey, that did blow, though here's a glitch... they said it wasn't supposed to!). We saw more of Soundwave's ability, and learned that the drone he uses has a name... guess what it is! That's right: Laserbeak! Nice classic reference!
Now, there were glitches. And this time, it was more of an unofficial multi-parter, not just a "series within a series" start-off. The cliffhanger was uncomfortable, but made you want to see the next episode so you could see what the heck happened! It was well-done in that sense, though it was a major player in losing that final Spaceship.
So, it could have been done better, but it was a well-done episode anyway.

Triangulation

Episode Name: Triangulation
Series: Transformers Prime, Season 2
Rating: Four Spaceships

Mission Briefing:
Prime heads off to the Anartic (sp?) to get that Relic, right after teaming Ratchet up with Wheeljack. But we focus on the cold adventure here. Megatron has sent Dreadwing to after the same Relic as Prime. Meanwhile, Starscream has detected the activity of his old team, and goes out after the Relic himself.
Things will not only be chilly, but hectic...

Mission Report:
Ah, one good one after another! They've really thought this "series within a series" out! Nice...!
Now, the story was actually pretty good and well-done. It had its glitches (like, how was the circle of bombs at the end put into place?). But the enjoyment level was pretty high. It rolled like a four-Spaceship, but no higher, I'm afraid. But there was a team-up!!! That was cool and fun! And it's nice that they finally remembered Wheeljack!!!
So, this episode could have been done better, but it was still pretty good.

Tunnel Vision

Episode Name: Tunnel Vision
Series: Transformers Prime, Season 2
Rating: Four Spaceships

Mission Briefing:
The hunt for the four Relics has begun! The first Relic is hidden under Manhattan! Luckily, the bots don't really have to maintain cover underground... in the subway tunnels! Still, just in case, Jack and Miko go to help Arcee and Bumblebee in their grab of the Relic.
Meanwhile, Megatron has sent Knock Out, a team, and an Insecticon to grab the Relic. If the 'Cons weren't trouble enough, a human by the name of Vogul is in the tunnels as well, causing some problems for the humans and company, though relatively minor.
Will the Manhattan Relic be recovered without any problem?

Mission Report:
Yeah! Keep the good ones rolling!
The next addition in this happy streak is well-done. The story was pretty well-done, though it was not as enjoyable as the last two. The story had some glitches... like, I think they took too long to remember the third-rail motif which was mentioned in the beginning of the show!
Though the episode was mostly enjoyable. There were funny bits, at least one funny solution to a problem, and enjoyable moments. It was mostly fun to watch.
So, all in all, while not as good or enjoyable as the last two... this episode was still a very good episode!

Flying Mind

Episode Name: Flying Mind
Series: Transformers Prime, Season 2
Rating: Four and a Half Spaceships

Mission Briefing:
In the aftermath of Armada, the Nemesis is grounded. In desperation, Megatron decides to use Dark Energon to jump-start and repair the ship, as well as gain control of it personally. Meanwhile, Optimus decides to use the Spark Extractor to end this once and for all.
Of course, something goes terribly wrong.
The Nemesis suddenly gets a will of its own. It starts decoding the Iacon Database on its own, and puts all the Autobots in a new kind of stasis-lock during a battle. It also revolts against Megatron as well, causing multiple problems! However, it ignores the Autobots and can't see Fowler, who joined the Autobots for what was supposed to be the "final battle" as a human witness, so they get away.
Jack figures it is the perfect time to download the Iacon Database, but things are going to get even worse before they get better... then again, what did you expect? LOL!

Mission Report:
Technically, this was another unofficial multi-parter. However, it stands by itself very well.
The story was well-done. Admittedly, there were some glitches. But there weren't a lot.
And it was highly enjoyable. There were a few funny scenes. And it was fun to watch the humans climb up over the stasis-locked Knock Out. Megatron... not so much, though it was slightly enjoyable to watch Jack climb all over him. But the episode did have some uncomfy (sp?) moments, and I'm not sure I like the path Optimus was thinking of going. But it was mostly enjoyable!
So, all in all, it was a great episode, just needs some tweaking in some places.
