Darkest Hour

Episode Name: Darkest Hour
Series: Transformers Prime, Season 2
Rating: Two Spaceships

Mission Briefing:
Megatron takes control of the Omega Lock, and uses it to start cybernizing (sp?) Earth (think: the purpose of the Key to Vector Sigma on Earth in The Key To Vector Sigma Parts 1-2*). Optimus destroys the Omega Lock to make sure that Earth stays safe and humanity stays alive, but makes sure Cybertron is never revived.
But Megatron has started his purpose... he has a new fortress named New Kaon, somewhere around (or in, not sure) Jasper, Nevada! You know what that means... the Base has been located!
It is a dark hour indeed... will it get bright?

Mission Report:
The answer: not right away!!! In fact, it gets a whole lot darker first... and this is a series cliffhanger!!! That means we don't know until the next Season comes out! I hate Season cliffhangers!!! Okay, so Optimus lost his memory and became Orion Pax again, but at least they showed last Season that the Unicron story was over and the Autobots had won!
Now, let's be honest. We know everything will eventually turn out okay and the Autobots eventually win and blah-de-blah-blah-blah... that's how every story ends eventually. But it is not a real comfort here! They should have put at least a partial happy ending here, like they did in the last Season!
The ending was the true killer. Up until that point, the story was pretty well-done. Though the enjoyment level (except during the action parts around the Base), was definitely not the best.
The ending did a lot of no-nos! For one, the totally dark ending... and they killed Prime and Wheeljack (at least no one goes 'Con this time, but I still didn't like it!!!)! And just the dark tone!
So, all in all, this is probably my least favorite episode in the series (next to The Human Factor). Worst way ever to end a series!!!
